Forgotten World Highway

New Zealand state highway 43, also called the Forgotten World Highway, is a road that runs 148km from Strafford in Taranaki to Taumarunui.

We saw ourselves driving through remote regions with narrow twisting roads and old rustic houses looking unchanged in time like the Whangamomona village (see photos below). We hardly saw cars on the street! Animals? Lot's of them! And we broke the silence of the journey by talking to some cows and sheeps! Ahahahahahah!

I'll never forget this amazing peaceful and joyful piece of paradise! 

And, for our surprise, there are a lot of kiwi's that never heard about this Forgotten World Highway!

State highway 43, também chamada de Forgotten World Highway, é uma rua de 148km de Stratford em Taranaki até Taumarunui.

Quando nos apercebemos estávamos a guiar por regiões muito remotas com estradas estreitas e com muitos s´s, casas antigas e rústicas que pareciam nunca ter mudado no tempo como a vila de Whagamomona (vejam fotos abaixo). Foi raro vermos carros na estrada! Animais? Muitos! E nós quebramos o silêncio da viagem falando com vaquinhas e ovelhas! Ahahahahahah!

Nunca mais irei esquecer este surpreendente pedaço de paraíso, pacífico, alegre!

E para nossa surpresa, há muitos kiwi's que não conhecem este Forgotten World Highway!

Tongariro National Park

Tongariro National Park is New Zealand's oldest park with an outstanding volcanic area. It's a ski location, but mostly visited during summer due the excellent hiking opportunities.

The park is centered around three active volcanoes:

• Tongariro 1967m
• Ngauruhoe 2287m
• Ruapehu 2797m

We did Tongariro alpine crossing, a one day trekking of 19.4km. The climbs were very steep, very challenging but in the end it was so worthy as we had spectacular views that changed every minute due to the unpredictable weather on the top.

On the finish line everyone were shouting of joy and clapping hands!!!! We did it!!!!! 

O Parque Nacional de Tongariro é o parque mais antigo da Nova Zelândia que tem uma excepcional área vulcânica. É uma localização para ski, mas  é maioritariamente visitado no verão pelas excelentes oportunidades de caminhadas. 

O parque está  centrado à volta de três vulcões activos:

• Tongariro 1967m
• Ngauruhoe 2287m
• Ruapehu 2797m

Nós fizemos o Tongariro alpine crossing, 19.4km de caminhada feito num dia. As subidas foram bastante íngremes e muito desafiadoras, mas no final foi gratificante porque tivemos paisagens espectaculares que mudavam a cada minuto, pois o tempo é muito inconstante no topo da montanha.

No final todos davam gritos de alegria e batiam palmas!!! Conseguimos!!!

Even though my posts are still on the second week of the first month (posting very slowly) we are on our second month of our three months trip and I'm loving this experience. It is really slowing me down and I'm starting to hear my true self better.

Life can be so much happier, so much simpler and so much less complicated if we just let it be! 

We just need to find what makes us happy, what feeds our soul and continue building our daily living full of moments like that.

My mind likes to complicate and wander in this negativity for a long time until the moment someone that is on my side slape me in my face (not literally, but maybe...) and wake me up to reality!

Don't overthink, focus in the present moment and make the most of it. Don't be afraid of change! I know I'm still afraid! Stop saying: tomorrow I'll start doing... 

Start right now or else you won't! Believe me, I'm the best example! Tomorrow was always the solution.

Be brave enough to start doing and living the life you dreamed of

Apesar dos meus posts ainda estarem na segunda semana do primeiro mês (estou a fazer posts muito lentamente) nós estamos no nosso segundo mês da nossa viagem de três meses e eu estou a adorar esta experiência. Está  mesmo a desacelarar-me e estou a começar a ouvir melhor o meu eu verdadeiro.

A vida pode ser tão mais feliz, tão mais simples e tão menos complicada se deixarmos ser.

Só temos de procurar o que nos faz mais feliz, o que alimenta a nossa alma e continuar a construir a nossa vida diária cheia desses momentos.

A minha mente gosta de complicar e de deambular no meio da negatividade toda até  ao momento de alguém que está  ao meu lado dar-me uma chapada (não literalmente, mas se calhar...) e me acordar para a realidade.

Não  penses demais, foca-te no momento presente e aproveita-o ao máximo. Não tenhas medo da mudança! Eu sei que ainda tenho!

Pára de dizer: amanhã vou começar a fazer...

Começa a fazer agora ou então nunca vais começar! Acredita, eu sou exemplo vivo disso! O amanhã  sempre foi a solução.

Sê corajoso o suficiente para começares a fazer e a viver a vida que sempre sonhaste

Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland

Now in the center of the northern island we arrived in a misty city that is boiling from the ground! It was funny and scared at the same time to visit this city!

We visited the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland.
In this thermal Park the landscape has been sculptured by geothermal activity as it's in a vulcanic area. Due to this activity beneath the earth, the park has a lot of hot springs that are really smelly!
Hot pools range in hues of turqouise blue and rich green to burnt orange to sulphuric yellow.

Champagne pool is a magnificent example of the vibrantes colours causes by mineral and silicate interference.

Agora no centro da ilha do norte, nós  chegamos a uma cidade sob uma névoa e a ferver do chão! Foi engraçado e assustador ao mesmo tempo visitar esta cidade!

Nós visitamos o "Wai-O-Tapu thermal Wonderland".
Como este parque está numa área vulcânica, a paisagem foi esculpida por actividade geotérmica. Devido a esta actividade debaixo da terra, o parque tem muitas fontes termais que são muito mal cheirosas!  
As fontes termais variam em tons de azul turquesa e um verde fluorescente para laranja quente e um amarelo sulfúrico. 
A "champagne pool" (piscina de champanhe) é uma exemplo de cores vibrantes causadas pela interferência de minerais e silicatos.

East Cape II/II

Hiya,

Have a look of the second part of our trip in East Cape. 

Every single day we pass in New Zealand I feel more in love with nature! It's absolutely fantastic. Not to tell about the animals that we found on our way like the horses you see on the pictures. When we stopped to take photos they came near us, side by side! Wow incredible!

One of the horses looked albino, at least had the characteristics of one, but unfortunately I don't have a proper photo that shows well the horse.

Aqui estão as fotos da segunda parte da nossa road trip em East Cape.

Cada dia que passa fico mais deslumbrada com a natureza da Nova Zelândia! É absolutamente fantástica! Para não falar também dos animais que encontramos pelo caminho, como os cavalos que vêem nas fotos. Quando parámos para tirar fotos eles vieram à nossa beira e pararam mesmo ao nosso lado! Wow incrível!!! Um dos cavalos parecia albino, pelo menos tinha todas as características de um, mas infelizmente não tenho uma foto que o mostre bem.

Hello everyone.

We are amazed with New Zealand's mother nature! It's so green and beautiful. It reminded us Ireland's landscapes too.

In this post you will see some photos of our road trip through East Cape (the first part).
